Sea to summit scrambling on Scotland's wild west coast
Bespoke trips tailored around your aims and aspirations
SKYE AND THE CUILLIN RIDGE
Sitting at southern end of the Isle of Skye, looking out over the Irish Sea, the compact range of mountains that forms the Black Cuillin provides some of the UK's most adventurous climbing and mountaineering. The main spine of mountains, linked together by a continuous rocky ridge, runs for over ten kilometres and provides perhaps the most iconic scrambling objective in the British Isles: the Cuillin Ridge. Aside from the main ridge, southern Skye is home to a vast array of scrambles, some of which take in well-known peaks, others which visit quiet corners where we're unlikely to see anyone else.
All of our Skye trips are bespoke and tailored around you and your aspirations, maximising your chances of achieving your chosen objective whilst giving us the ability to focus on the details that make the difference. At the outset, we'll make a plan that suits what you hope to achieve: whether it's a full traverse; preparation for an alpine trip; or visiting some of the quieter corners of the mountains. During the trip, conditions and weather will dictate everything, and we'll follow these carefully to help us choose the most appropriate objective each day - west coast weather can be fickle and it's important that as a team we have the ability to adapt.

Cuillin Ridge Traverse
A traverse of the Cuillin Ridge captures all the grandeur of an alpine-scale objective. Sustained, efficient movement over moderately technical ground, at least one overnight bivvy up high on the ridge, a thoughtful approach to packing to achieve a pack-weight which maximises chances of success, All these elements combine to give a mountaineering objective unlike any other in the UK.
There are many ways to make a traverse - for some, visiting every summit and climbing every possible pitch in good time and good style is the ultimate aim, whilst for others, the objective is simply the process of undertaking a journey through high mountain terrain with an overnight bivvy looking out over the sea and summits. Each traverse is personal, an expression of our own vision of what being in the mountains is to us.
When organising a full Cuillin Ridge traverse, we typically take bookings for 3 days in a 4-day period, or 4 days in a 5-day period, giving some flexibility to deal with inclement weather and/or a rest-day if necessary.
